General didactics, education and empirical research in education

General didactics

General didactics takes care of research on teaching and its quality, through continuous interaction between professional experience and theoretical reflection, between action and research. His field of exploration ranges from the design to the evaluation of teaching, with particular attention to methodological, organizational and relational aspects. The absence of a specific reference to an object or to a discipline of teaching reminds us of its intent to develop a research method on teaching action and to provide a common set of core concepts to knowledge on didactics.

Subject area education

Scientific education research (currently, the research areas are mathematics education, physics education, geography education) is aimed at studying the teaching and learning processes for specific subjects. More specifically, the research aims at developing theoretical frameworks for the analysis of conceptualization, the design of teaching interventions, the analysis of such interventions. The research team also carries out inter-disciplinary research.

Empirical research in education

Empirical research in education is concerned to describe educational phenomena, verify the effectiveness of new interventions, evaluate products or complex systems, solving problems in the educational context by structuring actions for change and checking them, and to study individuals and groups in their environment and cultural context, using a scientific method that allows to build knowledge and improve actions. The research develops models of intervention to promote academic success and addresses docimological issues.
