Logic, language and cognition
page being updated
The members of the Department who pertain to the area of Logic, Language and Cognition mainly deal with philosophical issues that have been elaborated and discussed within the analytic tradition, pursuing the ideal of rigor and clarity that distinguishes this tradition. In particular, adopting a methodological perspective based on the logical analysis of language and on convergence with cognitive sciences, they deal with problems concerning the notions of validity, truth, meaning, knowledge and rationality, with the study of mental states in their relationship with the mechanisms of cognition and reasoning, and investigate the metaphysical and ontological presuppositions of language and thought.
