Social theory and methodology of social and educational research

The Social Theory and Methodology of Social and Educational Research area carries out theoretical and empirical research on the transformations of various components of the social organization, with particular attention to socio-educational issues.

Most of the research activities are carried out within the "Luciano Gallino" Behavior Simulation and Educational Robotics Laboratory.

Having as its main reference the theory of action and the social actor, activity in this area has so far been concentrated in the following areas: changes induced in the actor's space of action by biomedical and infotelematic technologies; simulation of social behavior with agent models and Artificial Intelligence techniques; educational robotics; education and sport; risky behaviors in adolescence; professional training; expressions of popular culture (eg: ex-voto); public understanding of science and technology; mechanisms of reproduction of inequalities; intersectional approach to the study of discrimination.
