Semiotics
The semiotic group of Turin University is mainly focused on the following empirical and theoretical topics:
- general semiotics, semiotic theory, narration theory
- audiovisual and TV semiotics, intermediality
- visual semiotics
- culture, religion, food, body and fashion semiotics politic and commercial communication, advertising, touristic communication
- human sciences and economy epistemology;
- posthuman, culture and technology relationship.
The group is composed by a number of professors (Guido Ferraro, Massimo Leone, Giovanni Leghissa, Ugo Volli), external teachers (Laura Rolle, Antonio Santangelo, Federica Turco), postdoctoral researchers and PhD students. Its works is done mainly in the Interdipartimental Center for Communication Research (Centro Interdipartimentale di Ricerca sulla Comunicazione, CIRCE), it take parts to the curriculum “Semiotics and media” in the doctoral program in Humanities (“Lettere”) of Turin University. The group has a journal (“Lexia”, www.lexia.it) and edits a book collection (“I saggi di Lexia”).
